It's been a few months since I last wrote anything. Oh, I had every intention of writing, but it seemed as soon as I sat down to write I was swamped with another phone call, another pressing email to respond to.
You see since January of this year we've been in a legal fight for my husband's biological daughters from his first marriage. DCF had taken the girls, and other children, away from the biological mother and her husband, and KVC was trying to get us involved in their lives. It's been a painful and trying process.
For the past three months, things were insane. Meetings with lawyers, people giving us items for the girls, meeting with KVC for private meetings or case plans. I'm afraid to say that, in this journey, that I haven't even had time to work on my monthly granny squares. I'm fortunate that my good friend E agreed to stop for awhile. We'll try to pick them up soon, but the swap has stopped for now.
Unfortunately, even though I worked my tail off for months, it wasn't enough. The State decided to take rights away from everybody. We were crushed. The only good thing is that the girls and their half siblings have been taken away from two monsters that tortured them. I can only pray that those two people pay for what they did to them. I'm normally one for giving second chances, but these two people deserve to be punished for what they did.
Things are starting to settle down here again, and we're able to actually enjoy each other. My heart is broken that we couldn't do more, but there is peace that I did everything, legally, that we could. There's always that chance that the girls could find us one day, and I really hope they do. I hope they find out the truth about their biological dad, not the 'truth' they were told by their mother, and that they can be a part of our family.
For now I'll be blogging more and writing about the fun things we are doing, as a family, this summer.
Until Next Time,
