Getting Creative and Having Fun!

Being a mom or dad, you have to learn a vital skill called "Rolling with the Punches". Not everything you that you plan, will happen. Case and point was today. For the past 2 weeks, we've had planned that the children were going to the Grandma V's house while hubby and I had a work day. Our goal was to clean out the garage. We knew that the kids were going to be out of the house, so I called Orkin and set up an appointment to take care of a new bug problem. This poor winter Kansas had is going to make bugs an issue this year! So, with Orkin coming, we had to be out of the house for 4+ hours! Not a problem, the kids were going to Grandma's house! Well, yesterday Grandma V came down with something, and couldn't watch the kids. Suddenly, hubby and I had the problem of no sitter, and no where to really take 3 kids, 2 of which would need naps right in the middle of the time that Orkin was going to be here, and 1 of those kids would need to nurse a couple of times. What to do...

After much deliberation, hubby and I came up with the perfect solution. A couple of weeks ago, I bought a couple of tents on sale. We love to go camping, and want to take our kids when they are older, so we knew that we would need them eventually. So, why not set up the tents and have the kids have a camp out, while we had to be out of the house! Hubby and the 2 older kids set up the tent, hubby got a fire going in the fire pit, and we had a blast! Sure, we didn't get to the garage, but what we ended up doing was far more fun and much more memorable!
Perfect fire for roasting hotdogs!

Setting up the tent!

The kids had so much fun sleeping in a tent, roasting hotdogs over the fire and playing! They were rather sad that they had to sleep inside tonight! I think we'll wait till they are a little older, till we try sleeping outside! There will be plenty more backyard camp outs, and more camp outs in camp grounds as they get older!

Until Next Time,
